EDUCATION DIRECTOR
This position requires you be able to instruct, research, develop and evaluate the curricula, teaching procedures and educational materials within the organization. Educational Director can work with the community, business and even non-profit organizations.
The Education Director needs to have a wide range of leadership and people skills, such as: communication to manage interactions with teachers, current and former members, guest, and members of the community. (Attitude is everything!)
Overview of what is needed for the Birmingham African American Genealogy Group:
Develop the class for the next year.
Present to the Board by October of present year
Contact Speakers for the Classes
Send out Request for Speaker (Bio) by November
Prepare a Class Schedule Brochure to Present at the December Holiday Social (send via Email)
Send Class Schedule to the Editor for the Newsletter by December
Send Class Schedule to Webmaster for Website
Develop Flyer for each class for the website.
Make copies of Class Schedule and Leave with Birmingham Public Library and Family History Center 50 Copies each.
Each month contact speaker or Instructor 1 week before class to make sure they are prepared.
Send Flyer to Guest Speaker before class.
Send copy of Monthly Class Flyer to Membership 2 days before class
If speaker cannot teach it is the responsibility of the DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION TO TEACH OR GET ANOTHER SPEAKER
The Director of Education works with the Class instructor and board on classes taught.
The Director of Education may have to teach classes if the Class Instructor is not available
The Director of Education works with the Black Heritage Fair Chair to help with Displays if needed.
The Director of Education may be asked to speak at community events if the President, Class Instructor, or Vice President is not available.
The Director of Education works with the Director of Research for the Brick Wall Classes
The Director of Education my teach Beginning Genealogy Classes
The Director of Education must be able to do and teach Genealogy Research if needed.
The Directory of Education along with board may be asked to help with research of special projects for the community, TV and Newspaper Journalist etc.
THE DIRECTOR OF EDUCATION NEEDS TO BE PREPARED AT ALL TIMES, IN CASE NEEDED AT EACH CLASS MEETING.
